IU Health Methodist's Neuro Critical Care Nurses care for patients suffering from brain injury, aneurysms and severe strokes. Neuro Critical Care provides emergency services and 24/7 customized and monitored treatments to help patients recover from serious neurological conditions.

We have an exciting nursing opportunity in our Surgical Progressive Care unit (A5 South).  This 24 bed hardwire step down unit primarily focuses on providing care to Neuro-Trauma patients. In addition to Neuro-Trauma patient types, you will work with many other surgical patients covering all systems of the body. This unit serves to help stabilize patients further until ready to transfer to a medical surgical unit or leave the facility.

IU Methodist's A5North is a 23-bed inpatient neuro trauma surgical unit highly specialized in taking care of patients who experience significant brain and spinal cord trauma. A5North staff are trained in treating very complex multi-system involvement type patients with a significant focus on patient rehabilitation after a significant neurological impairment. The IU Health Methodist Neurosurgical program consistently ranks as one of the top 50 Neurosurgical programs in the country, and works with an outstanding team of Neurosurgeons and Neurologists. Common diagnoses treated include brain and spinal cord trauma, stroke, neurological tumors, hemorrhages of the brain, and seizures.

IU Methodist's A7S is an 18 bed nursing unit designated for the medical/stroke population. Home to Indiana’s first hospital to achieve Comprehensive Stroke Center certification, our medical stroke unit provides an opportunity for nurses to learn and grow alongside some of the most highly skilled professionals in the neuroscience community. This team delivers on their dedication to continually improve processes and the quality of care for patients suffering from stroke, seizures and other neurological deficits. As a part of one of the largest neuroscience programs in the country, the A7S nurses are key contributors in advancing and providing the most specialized stroke care in Indiana and are NIHSS certified during orientation. Additionally, this team is trained to care for patients with a variety of medical disease processes to serve medical overflow needs of the hospital.

Surgical Trauma Critical Care is a fast-paced unit with a variety of patient conditions suffering from surgical trauma who need high intensity care. The types of trauma are a range of different types of accidents. Most patients are in relation to ortho and abs. Teamwork and an ongoing learning environment are always the focus. On this unit nurses provide complete, continuous care for patients suffering from severe illness or injury.

IU Methodist's A4N Surgical Trauma Unit is a 31 bed inpatient unit specializing in the treatment of multi-system trauma patients. The A4N staff are trained in treating patients presenting with open wounds, extensive fractures requiring surgical fixation, internal organ involvement which includes contusion, spleen, liver, and kidney lacerations. Additionally, this unit is highly specialized in taking care of patients who experience complex abdominal surgeries, not limited to abdominal wall construction, colectomy, hemicolectomy, liver resection, bowel resection, large non-healing ulcers, and necrotizing fasciitis.

IU Methodist's A4S Surgical Orthopedic Trauma Unit is a 25 bed unit, which is highly specialized in taking care of patients who suffer from orthopedic trauma from fractures due to motor vehicle accidents, motorcycle accidents, falls, and crush injuries. Additionally, this unit is trained to treat patients who receive total joint replacement, such as hip, knee, and shoulder, as well as osteomyelitis and elective thoracic and lumbar spinal surgery.

CVCC nurses primarily care for patients post open heart surgeries, heart and lung transplants and other major surgeries. Opportunity to work with CRRT, ECMO, Balloon pumps, VADs, and other similar devices.

The Adult ECMO Program is a member of the Extracorporeal Life Support Organization (ELSO). We are designated as a Center of Excellence, which demonstrates excellence in providing ECLS therapy. We are the largest ECMO center in Indiana and are 10th in the U.S. for ECMO patient volume with continued outcomes better than the national averages for respiratory and cardiac support.  Patients are placed on Extracorporeal Life Support (ECLS) for acute, reversible cardiac and/or pulmonary failure. These patients are managed in the Cardiovascular or Cardiac Medical Critical Care units.  Candidates are required to maintain continuing education and attend regular meetings within the program. The ECMO clinician is responsible for managing the ECMO circuit(s), troubleshooting and collaborating with the bedside nurse, and communication with the multidisciplinary team. The ideal candidate is a clinician who has a minimum of 2 years of critical care experience. They should be adaptable in a fast paced, rapidly changing critical care environment and have scheduling flexibility.

We have an exciting nursing opportunity on our Advanced Heart Care A5E unit at Methodist Hospital! This 28 bed progressive care unit focuses on the close monitoring of patients with cardiovascular diagnoses including:  Advanced Heart Failure, Pulmonary hypertension, Cardiac arrhythmias/drips, Congenital heart defects, Infective endocarditis along with a multitude of other co-morbidities.

We have an exciting nursing opportunity on our Advanced Cardio/Pulmonary A6N unit at Methodist Hospital! This 32 bed unit is unique in that it is an acuity adaptable unit. This means that the nurses care for Med/Surg and progressive level patients. This unit has a strong foundation of excellent team collaboration. Care provided for these higher acuity patients, including ventilated patients, allow for additional growth opportunities for our nurses.

IU Health Methodist's Cardiovascular Surgical A2North is a fast-paced, high acuity, mixed model unit that sees both Progressive Care and Med/Surg patients. This unit's focus is the treatment of cardiovascular patients through surgical and medical management of diagnoses. Diagnoses include cardiac arrhythmias, circulatory disorders, coronary artery bypass graft (CABG), cardiac valve repairs/replacement, and post heart catheterization procedural care.  Cardiovascular Surgical is the only Progressive Care unit at Methodist Hospital with registered nurses who are specially trained in the care of Ventricular Assist Devices (VAD). With the required specialized care of these patients, the diagnoses can be varied.  Nurses can expect to gain skills in many areas such as: advance cardiac life support (ACLS), advanced critical thinking, EKG interpretation, arrhythmia management, continuous medication infusions management, and expertise in post-op surgical and cardiovascular care.

IU Methodist's A3North is a medical/surgical unit whose focus is the care of patients with cardiovascular diagnoses including; congestive heart failure, myocardial infarction, and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). 3N also focuses on the treatment of post interventional cardiovascular surgery patients including; CABG, valve replacement, heart catheterization, and peripheral vascular surgeries such as revascularization and amputations.

C8 is a locked psychiatric ward that focuses on patients who present with primary psych diagnosis and secondary medical diagnosis. IU Methodist Hospital's 7N is known as the Transplant/Oncology unit. It is a 23 private bed, highly specialized medical/surgical unit. This unit cares for Pre & Post Op Heart and Lung Transplant patients. This unit also treats patients with different types of Cancer, and offers Biotherapy Certified Nursing services to all of Methodist Hospital. As a third specialty, 7N also cares for plastic surgery patients who have undergone muscle flap reconstruction, as well as breast reconstruction.

3South at University Hospital provides a phenomenal learning and collaborative environment within a high acuity setting for all nurses. We were recently recognized for going over a year without any accidents.  This unit specializes in Surgical Oncology, specifically: pancreatic cancer, colorectal cancer, and ear/nose/and throat cancers. This is a high functioning, fast paced surgical and specialized care unit. Clinical Nurses will be a part of a lot of peer-to-peer team collaboration and decision making for recovering post-surgical patients with a cancer diagnosis.

The Radiology Nurse at University Hospital provides care, including conscious sedation, to patients who are undergoing imaging procedures and radiation therapies.  Modalities served include, but not limited to, Interventional Radiology, MRI, CT, Fluoroscopy, Nuclear Medicine, and Ultrasound.

Our University Hospital Surgical Oncology Nurses promote safe recovery from surgeries that manage gastrointestinal cancer, chronic bowel disease, and hernia repairs. Nurses gain experience in managing ostomies, complex wound care, and opioid-sparing pain management. It provides a collaborative nursing driven care. This unit is fast paced with lots of team collaboration. Nurses will be able to educate patients and families of the illness while building professional relationships.  Nurses on this unit assist with bedside procedures, are trained in pain management, management of therapeutic specialty beds, hemodynamic monitoring, and are also trained in the insertion of small bore feeing tubes and bowel management devices.

The University Hospital Hematology/Oncology unit specializes in Acute Leukemia, Lymphoma, Multiple Myeloma, Sarcomas, and Intestinal Cancers. Nurses will gain experience with chemotherapy administration and ONS Certification. Nurses will be able to build strong relationship skills and compassion for end of life care.  As a part of the Comprehensive Cancer Care designation, nurses continue to professionally grow and develop with continuing education each year in the area of oncology.

University Hospital's 2North is a fast-paced Medical-Surgical unit that specializes in a variety of patient populations.  These populations include: Gynecology-Oncology, Gynecology, Hematology/Oncology, Cystic Fibrosis, and Sickle Cell Anemia.  Nurses will gain learning, experience, and skills with central lines, drains, physical assessments, and medication administration, including chemotherapy upon certification.  2North values align with the IU Health Values: Team, Compassion, Purpose, and Excellence.  On 2North, every team member is a caregiver. University Hospital's Krannert is a Surgical Oncology unit that specializes in the care of bladder, prostate, kidney, and testicular cancer, as well as orthopedic oncology patients. Patients travel from all over the world to Krannert just for our world-renowned testicular cancer care. Clinical Nurses on this unit provide a positivity interacting with patients and team members. IU Methodist's Med Surg, B7 is a 24-bed unit that provides 24-hour care to acutely ill medical patients. The patient population ranges from the young adult to geriatric age groups. The most common conditions treated include stroke, TIA, diabetes management, pancreatitis, and wound management. Nursing skills gained through working on this unit include Stroke Certification and the ability to care for a wide range of patient conditions.

We have a rewarding opportunity available on our Renal/Metabolic Care C5 unit at Methodist Hospital! This 26-bed unit provides 24-hour care to acutely ill patients. This unit cares for patients with a variety of medical diagnosis which could include renal disease, diabetes management, wound management, pain management, and vascular access issues supporting patients varying from young adult to the geriatric age group. This unit is the designated unit for providing all Continuous Ambulatory Peritoneal Dialysis (CAPD) for Methodist Hospital.  This unit also embodies an additional unit, B5, a 5-bed End of Life Care unit that is dedicated to the care of patients at the end of life, including both palliative and hospice care.

We have a rewarding opportunity available on our 4N- Adult Medical Liver/GI unit at University Hospital! This unit specializes as a GI/Liver Medical/Surgical Unit caring for patients with Chronic Liver disease, pancreatitis, and other GI related disorders. Our nurses use critical thinking as they support high acuity patients. Nurses will build upon of variety of skills such as IV’s, NG placement, G, J, GJ tubes, enternal/parental feeds, etc.  Our Adult Medical Liver/GI unit is fast paced with strong team collaboration. Our nurses will be able to educate patients with illness and their families while building professional relationships. If you are a team player and eager to learn and grow your more critical nursing skills, this Methodist Hospital PACU unit has RN opportunities for you.  We recover patients from a variety of procedures and surgical areas post anesthesia.  PACU serves our Level 1 Trauma services and remains open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.  Only 1 Holiday a year required.  PACU has a full time night and weekend staff.   Team members have the opportunity to self-schedule.  Self-schedules are balanced to meet the unit needs if necessary.
